The Eagles defeated Montclair in overtime yesterday with Manny Bell scoring the game-winning shot. He now has 1,002 points in just two seasons. Way to go, Manny!!
Check out the story from NJ.com via the Star Ledger:
Bell, a junior, recorded 32 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals, reaching 1,000 career points in only two years of play, having sat out his freshman season.
“He’s by far the best player I’ve ever coached,” said coach Lorenzo Williams. “The kid has been working hard the past two years, and hasn’t got the recognition that he deserves, being that we’re a small Group 1 school.”
American History held a 10-point lead at halftime before Montclair came back to tie it up and force overtime. The Bald Eagles outscored Montclair 12-9 in the overtime period, with Bell scoring 20 of his 32 points in the second half and overtime.
“Manny just came to life at the end… he’s an unbelievable shooter,” said Williams.
Dahjae Green added 17 points, eight assists and three steals while Nasseem Cheek chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds for American History, which assisted on 16 of its 28 baskets.”
